A day in Xishuangbanna doesn’t need to be planned in detail. It can begin with a walk through a local market. Fresh fruits—mango, passion fruit, bananas—fill the space with color. Vendors call out, people move slowly, and everything feels part of daily life rather than tourism. By midday, the heat becomes more noticeable. This is when cafés become important. Sitting down, having a drink, and watching the street is part of the experience. In the afternoon, movement slows even more. The rhythm of the day naturally shifts into something softer. Then, as evening arrives, everything changes again. Night markets open, lights appear, and the energy returns. Food stalls line the streets, and people gather without urgency. It’s a full day, but it never feels rushed. Everything flows naturally from morning to night.

We just completed a 4 day/3 night stay at this beautiful property, adjacent to Botanical Gardens (accessible through a back gate for hotel guests). This large resort has many walking trails, well manicured flora and fauna, fruits trees, pagodas; that are representative of the region, and very nice amenities. Our daily routine consisted of a large breakfast feast, followed by sightseeing, then returning to the hotel for tea/cocktail lounge (live entertainment), gym (pretty but small compared to Western standards), and dinner. There is a local village and some eateries that are within walking distance which were enjoyable. The concierge team helped answer all questions about the region and connected us with a driver who offered very reasonable fees for taking us to sights of interest. All the sights are far from each other in Xishuangbanna so we were grateful to have a home base that was so elegant and enjoyable. The weather was not suited for tanning during our stay but the pool area was nicely designed with an infinity pool overlooking some misty mountains.

Excellent villa resort with friendly helpful staff. The villa was spacious, clean and well arranged. We had better sleep at the villa than at our home! The food in the restaurants was excellent with plenty of variety to satisfy all tastes. There is also a bar/teahouse which we enjoyed to relax in in the afternoons, a Negroni for me and a tea for my wife.
